BE THE R´EVOLUTION´, NOT JUST PART OF AN ´EVOLUTION´

The world indeed is undergoing a sublime transformation on many dimensions. The visible dimension is the economic dimension where the growth in the coming decades would be more from the emerging economies which are well positioned with abundant natural resources and strong demographic dividend. Another dimension is the interconnectivity between people transforming the world from global village to a common street where by using common net interface; people communicate and share ideas across continents with relative ease. If the pace of evolution is to be plotted on a graph, it would be an exponential curve with highest increase of slop coming during the last decade. This is also in line with the population explosion and technology innovation among host of other items which have gathered high momentum during the recent years.
In these changing and challenging times, all of us are faced with two distinct options , whether we choose to be part of a revolution or just be part of an evolution ? The world is entangled in vicious web of corporate greed and political corruption where economies are being affected by lack of strong will by the politicians to ``act`` and lack of concern by global organizations about welfare of the society. This is the time when we need true leaders, leaders who can lead with vision, leaders who can convert the vision into sustainable strategy, leaders who can execute the strategy by creating sustainable processes and inspired people. While ``Occupy Central`` protests reflect the mood of the common man around the world from Chile to Rome to New York, we also need to understand that our destiny is in each of our hands. How? It is in our hands from the choices we make , choice between being a true leader to revolutionize the way we do business (or) being one among the herd of 7 billion people living in the world.

We need new form of capitalism in which ``shared value creation`` becomes integral part of business model of each and every company. All the organizations around the world should think on how to deliver value to the community parallel to how to make profits and deliver shareholder value. Adidas had done this by launching footwear for people in the bottom of the pyramid in Bangladesh partnering with Grameen Bank. Heinz has done it by launching new product line of micro nutrients for children in Africa who suffer with malnutrition and vitamin deficiency. These are testaments to the fact that contributing to societal welfare does not necessarily means sacrificing profitability or hurting shareholder value ; on the contrary it can be effective way as demonstrated by Adidas and Heinz to tap into ``untapped markets`` leveraging competitive advantage as first mover.
It is essential that we need to be part of the revolution in : leading the world to a new frontier where business means higher profitability along with community welfare , leading the people to deliver to their fullest potential also to uplift the status quo of millions of under deserving population , leading the word with a true vision of economic and social welfare ;  rather than being  one more person in the vast population (7 billion and counting) without making any difference to the world we live in.

The time is ticking on and each of us need to take the decision. What is yours?
